Where to publish a press release: editors and open platforms

A practical guide for teams with genuine company news and a specific audience to reach.

Sites in this guide

Check each site's current submission rules before sending your text: formats, fees and review policies can change.

A company has launched a product, opened a branch or published a study. The press release is ready, but deciding where to send it can feel like a lottery. Start with two questions: who will care about this event, and what does each site require? This guide covers Russian and international options, with links to submission forms and rules that can affect whether your release is accepted.

When is a press release needed?

A press release conveys a company's position on a specific event. In the first paragraph, the reader should see the fact: what happened, where, when and who it concerns. Next come the details, verifiable figures, a representative’s comment and a contact for clarification. An editor doesn't need a big story about a brand's history if it doesn't help understand the event. For example, to open a store, the address, date, assortment and conditions for the residents of the area are more important than ten years of company growth.

A press release can announce a launch, appointment, deal, study, service change or event. If there is no news, it is better to choose an expert article or case. The phrase “the company continues to develop successfully” does not become an event even after adding the word “innovative”. Think about what fact can be verified independently: a contract, an official message, a public page, a research methodology, a newly opened location.

Where to send a Russian-language release

  • 1000news - guest posting form and rules. The editors review press releases with a clear news angle. Submit at least 2,000 characters of original text, a cover image, the author’s contact details and material you have the right to use. Hidden advertising and links for the sake of promotion are not accepted here. The submission is reviewed, so completing the form does not guarantee an exact publication time.
  • BrokerList - sending news. Suitable for releases about brokers, trading platforms, foreign exchange and crypto markets. The form asks for author or company, mail, section, title, text and cover; the editor checks the facts. Do not promise guaranteed profitability in your release and do not confuse the publication of news with a change in the company’s position in the rating.
  • FinTerminal - rules and editor. Here you can offer news or a press release about the financial market. The site indicates that it considers non-commercial materials free of charge, and classifies the sale of services and the placement of a link in the text as a commercial format. Therefore, separate the event message from the promotional offer before sending.
  • Institute for the Development of Financial Technologies - Submission Form. For news about a payment product, banking technology, regulatory change, or research, have the source, author, and cover ready. The application goes to the closed editorial queue, and not to the open feed. If the topic goes beyond financial technology, it is better to choose another publication.
  • Trafstat - author's publication. Through a free account, the author can independently publish a news item, article or press release in the author's section. Registration is required. This route is useful when you need your own story with a link, but it does not equal editorial coverage and does not promise exposure to third-party media.

Choose not by the number of domains in the list, but by the match between the topic and the audience. It makes sense to send a release about broker commissions to a financial publication. To open a coffee shop in a small town, first look for a local editorial team and explain what will change for residents. Mass mailing of the same text to different media usually comes down to a simple question from the editor: why is this story here?

International services for English release

  • PRLog - free feed. The service offers a free account for publishing press releases and a separate material page. The rules show available features and paid add-ons. Prepare English text, correct category, company information and check the preview before sending. A free page does not mean publishing in every media mentioned.
  • openPR - submission form and official answers to frequently asked questions. The service announces the possibility of posting one free release in 30 days, allows up to five links in the text and warns that the material does not appear instantly: releases are published on working days. If your campaign is time sensitive, consider this delay in advance.
  • PR.com - pricing and restrictions. The site has a free package with limited distribution and paid options. An account is required to submit. Compare the composition of the free package with the task: if it is only important to place the original release on a separate page, it may be suitable; it’s not worth promising yourself wide distribution just based on the name of the package.

For English-speaking audiences, do not translate the Russian release line by line. Name the local market, explain the currency and context, remove links to documents that the reader cannot open. The date and geography in the first paragraph will help you understand the scope of the news. If an event only applies to Russia, do not pass it off as an international launch.

How to put together a release that can be verified

Start with a working headline: “The company opened a workshop in Kazan on November 15” communicates more than “a new stage of brand growth.” In the first paragraph, answer the main questions. In the second, give essential conditions: who will get access, where the service operates, what costs money, what is already working. Then add a quote from someone who can explain the solution rather than repeating the slogan. At the end, leave a short information about the company and work email.

For numbers, indicate the period and method of calculation. “The number of clients has grown by 40%” without a comparison base sounds impressive, but tells the editor little. Write down from what period to what period you considered the growth and who you called the client. If the release is about research, provide sample size and limitations. If you are talking about the new tariff, please provide a link to the public terms and conditions. If about a license - a document or number in the register. Evidence saves time for both parties.

The cover should relate to the news: a location, device, team or chart with readable labels. Check photo rights and people's consent if they are recognizable. A logo on a random stock background rarely helps explain an event. Before sending, open the release on your phone: a long headline, a table wider than the screen, and tiny text in the picture can spoil the impression even before reading the facts.

What to check in the site rules

Please open the terms and conditions link immediately before submitting. Check whether an account and email confirmation are required, whether there is a minimum size, whether a file can be attached, how many links are allowed, whether they accept ready-made text or first wait for a topic proposal. Find the exclusivity rule separately. If the editors require previously unpublished material, posting the release in your own feed before their response may close this route.

See how the site describes the free format. For some, the publication itself is free; For others, only the consideration of the application is free. An additional link, promotion on the main page, urgent release or late editing may be paid separately. For example, 1000news reports paid editorial edits after the first 24 hours of self-editing. It is better to read these terms before submitting than to discover them after release.

Do not expect a fixed term where it is not promised. Even if the form is open 24 hours a day, the editor may need a source, clarification of wording, or confirmation of image ownership. For news with a hard date, send the release in advance and keep a contact person in touch. If the text contains an embargo, write it directly and check whether the editors agree to abide by it.

How to pitch without confusion

Make a short table: site, topic, date of submission, contact, requirements, status, link to the result. For each recipient, add one sentence why the news is suitable for its readers. Do not send a letter with open addresses to a large list of editors: this approach immediately shows that no one chose the audience. If you're sending a release at the same time, don't call it exclusive.

Divide the text into background facts and presentation. The facts must be the same everywhere: date, numbers, name, position of the speaker. You can change the angle. For an industry publication, reveal the technology; for a city publication, the benefit to residents; for an author’s feed, the team’s experience. These are not ten copies with a replaced title, but several honest answers to various reader questions.

Once submitted, save a copy of the form and check your email. If the editor asks for a source, answer specifically: document, report line, speaker contact. After publication, look at the title, date and wording, and correct factual errors through the provided channel. A release is useful when it helps people understand an event. Its value is not measured by the mere fact of the link's existence.

Where to start today

Write one paragraph with the news without evaluative words. Below it, list three pieces of evidence and one contact for questions. Then select two or three sites with a suitable theme and open their rules using the links above. If the release concerns a narrow industry, look for a specialized editor; if you need a quick author's exit, check the open feed. Free submission gives you the opportunity to try, but the editor’s decision and the reader’s attention will have to be earned by the content.
