How to choose a site

A news item starts with an event: a launch, opening, study, service change or local happening. An editor needs to see why it matters to readers now. If the only news is that your company exists, a useful article or open-feed post may fit better.

For an editorial pitch, prepare a plain headline, the key facts, date and place, a source or quote and a contact who can verify details. A local event belongs first on local or regional sites. For an industry update, use the full directory's topic filter to find specialist publications.

Choose the country or city where the news matters.
Check whether the site has an open feed or requires an editorial pitch.
Read the rules for sources, images, links and original text.

A free submission does not guarantee publication. The venue decides what to run. If a pitch is declined, try an open feed or turn the news into a useful account of what changed.
